my nikon camera lens wont go back in, the screen says lens error, how do i fix this?

it makes a wierd noise too. its not even mine. all i did was take a picture, which blurred then said lens error!

Did you drop or damage the lens mechanism that you know of?

I’m assuming it is the lens retraction mechanism that’s broken… if so, then it’s most likely not something a consumer can fix on their own and you will have to have either a properly trained camera repair shop fix it or send it back to Nikon to have fixed.

Get a repair estimate first including any and all parts/labor. You can either have Nikon look at it or have a local ‘qualified’ and ‘competent’ repair facility. Be aware that there may be a ‘nominal’ fee to have the estimate done.

Also, you may learn that it’s half or more of the cost for a new camera. If so, I would almost automatically recommend buying a new camera if this was the case… simply because new camera prices are coming down dramatically and new features such as face recognition and vibration reduction are commonly available on less expensive camera’s these days.
