What size shock do I need to make my 2000 Honda xr70r rear higher?
I have an xr70r and it’s rear is a lil lower than I think it should be. Just need a size shock and also should I bore it out? If you bore it out do you need a clutch kit?
There are several ways to ways to make the rear of bike taller. One – set the spring preload to the maximum setting. This will make the ride more harsh (stiffer suspension). Two – install a stronger/stiffer spring, see link below for availability. Three – install a longer shock with spring that have the same rate as the stock shock, again see site below.

Since you are riding an XR70 you must be new to motorcycling. Unless you weigh like 120 lbs or more the stock shock/spring should be adequate for riding in all but race track competition. Changing the spring and/or shock will change the frame geometry therefore changing the handling.
It would be less expensive to buy a big bore kit, $/cc, than boring out the stock cylinder.

You would not need to upgrade the clutch unless you wore out the stock clutch with the big bore kit.
btw The most effective way to make bike more powerful and accelerate better is to get a high performance air filter, a freer flowing exhaust system and re-jet the carb, see links below.
